If you ever have a free weekend, and you work for a company that is crazy enough to cover the costs of unnecessary air travel, then you would be well-advised to spend a weekend in Zurich. The city posesses endless beauty and is of sufficient size that it can be leisurely navigated over the span of a day. The Swiss have an insatiable taste for cobblestone that is only matched by their love of clockfaces on cathedral towers.
Sadly, my weekend in Zurich ended days ago, and I have now moved on to Austria for a week full of business meetings and working dinners that last well into the night. I have been running on too litttle sleep and too many cigarettes. I miss my wife and daughter. The continental breakfast is beginning to wear thin.
The Austrians have been gracious hosts, with the inadvertent result being that they feel the need to tightly schedule every minute of our waking day. There are mountains visible just over the horizon, and I swear to god, I might just make a run for it…
