Campfire Optional
I have had little luck in finding gainful employment as a renaissance man, and so now I think it is time that I pursue my one true passion: storytelling. Oh the wonder and excitement I could provide with the telling of my tales. But yet I wonder, is the world ready for me?

Wordpress or Tumblr?
For the past several months I have been bouncing around the idea of shutting down my blog over at Wordpress and just pouring all of my brilliance into my tumblelog. I remain indecisive. If tumblr had a better archive interface, the choice would be a lot easier…

Is Leeching Wi-Fi Unethical?
Ars Technica reports on an all-but-defeated bill in the Maryland legislature which would have made it a criminal offense to leech someone else’s wireless signal. I have two bones to pick with the report. First is the assertion that if people don’t want others to use their wireless connection, then they should lockout their network using WAN or WEP. By this logic, it only stands to...

Truer words have never been spoken... →
“I’ve never quite figured out why wealthy white tech-enthusiasts are so drawn to libertarianism. i realise information wants to be free (i might even believe that myself), but the collective whining about “fairness” and “level playing fields” and the moral hazards of market regulation seem so egregious coming from those whom the existing system has smiled upon.” (via GalleryHop)

The Classroom as Spectacle →
Sensing that the human voice is no longer adequate to deliver a lecture, and desperate to boost their ratings among a youthful demographic, the savviest of professors now rely on Powerpoint to do their classroom bidding. With each passing lecture comes the further maturation of technological proficiency within the pedagogic avant-garde… (continued)

My First and Final Thoughts on Eliot Spitzer
For the record, I have absolutely no interest in Eliot Spitzer’s pathetic fall from grace. Please do not bother me with any of the sordid details. I can assure you that CNN has done its part in ensuring that none of us can escape from the infamous Myspace pics. When the pundits begin to talk, I stop listening. Consider this just one of the fruits of a proper upbringing.

In Remembrance...
“ Capitalism has a way of…penetrating places it should not. I would like to draw a line around the most intimately human things and say that they are not and never will be for sale for any price. Keep your fucking capitalism out of my body.” (via squashed) What we have here is a rearguard defense of something that was lost a long time ago. The human body was commodified decades ago. So...

Anything can be a URL, if you only want it badly...
Good news for web entrepreneurs—a quick WHOIS search reveals that this previously registered domain name is now available: baby-i-want-to-be-between-your-legs-with-my.org [I would love to put my .org there too, but we musn’t be greedy cause she’s just not that kind of girl]

Liberalism is a fighting creed
rabsteen: Why don’t we say, look we’re a liberal society—this is what is acceptable, and this is what isn’t. Here’s the line in the sand, don’t cross it. When cases arise where we can’t accomdate the demands of ethnic minorities, it’s not time to apologize, it’s time to celebrate liberal values. I have no idea what you are trying to say here. I don’t know which particular liberal...
